The number of deaths from COVID-19 in the world has exceeded 6.5 million

In the last week, the number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus in the world has exceeded 6.5 million, which is 0.7 million more than in the previous similar period.

“Report” reports that this was known based on the calculations of TASS. The number of cases of coronavirus infection has risen to the level recorded in early April.

It is noted that there is a sharp increase in the number of deaths from the coronavirus. In the last 7 days, one and a half times more people have died in the world than in previous weeks.

The process of further increase in infection cases continues in Europe. The highest figures are currently in Germany, where more than 140,000 cases have been reported per day, the highest for the country since the end of March. At the same time, in France, which was in first place in the region last week in terms of cases of illness, a slight decrease is now observed – the coronavirus has been registered in 120 thousand people. In Italy, the indicators are almost at the same level.

Authorities in a number of Asian countries are also talking about a new, seventh wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, more than 100,000 cases of infection have been registered in Japan in recent days, which is one of the highest indicators for the entire period of the pandemic. Compared to last week, the growth has almost doubled.

In South Korea, where 40,000 cases of infection are registered per day, a sharp jump in cases of infection is also observed. At the same time, the number of growth in India has decreased – for the second week in the country, about 20 thousand people are infected with the coronavirus.
