European Union countries are seeking exemptions from the European Commission’s (EC) plans to reduce gas consumption by 15% from August 2022 to March 2023.
“Report” informs that “Financial Times” published information about this with reference to the proposal draft.
According to the document, the EU countries stated that the mandatory targets should take into account the dependence of each member country on Russian gas, as well as the volume of this fuel sent to storage.
Member states also offer concessions to those who are able to supply gas to other countries of the organization. It was noted that some sectors considered critical for the single market of the European Union should be excluded from the proposal of the European Commission.
