“I welcome the US Senate’s ratification of Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership.”
“Report” US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken wrote this on Twitter.
“Finland and Sweden are long-standing, strong partners, and I look forward to their swift and full approval by other NATO members as a commitment to transatlantic security,” Blinken said.
The Senate of the US Congress adopted a resolution on the ratification of the protocols on the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. According to the features of the US legislation, the ratification procedure is carried out directly by the President of the country, and the Senate agrees to it. After that, the head of state, Joseph Biden, will have to sign and send the relevant documents regarding Stockholm and Helsinki’s accession to NATO. Biden said he would sign the document.
