Ramin Mahmudzade, a well-known scientist of Azerbaijan, associate professor of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics of Baku State University (BSU) has died.

R. Mahmudzade died yesterday at the age of 87.
It should be noted that he had an exceptional role in educating programmers in Azerbaijan. R. Mahmudzade contributed to the development of informatics and laid the foundation of the Olympiad movement in this subject.
He was the chairman of the jury in almost all interschool informatics Olympiads across the country. Since 1989, he has been the head of the republic’s All-Union Olympiad team in informatics, and since 1994, he has been the head of the International Olympiad team. Since 1999, he was the chairman of the “Information Technologies in Education” Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education. More than 80 scientific and pedagogical works of R. Mahmudzadeh have been published.
He taught broadcasting methods, informatics, and algorithmic languages. The scientist’s field of research was parallel programming, programming languages and teaching methodology.
In 2005, the well-known scientist was awarded the Order of Glory by the President of Azerbaijan.
